Mastermind Association Certification
Serving Others
Serving Others
Serving others is the most important part of a Mastermind Group. One of the greatest benefits of being a part of a group is how you can be of service to those around you. This supports the Mastermind Association’s adage, “To get what you want, you must first help others get what they want.”
During each mastermind session, the Host chooses a common cause to discuss. This can be a large goal that the group works with on an ongoing basis, or it can be a small goal that can be completed in a small amount of time.
Some service goals your group might like to focus on include:
• Homelessness
• Helping animals
• At-risk youth
• Environmental issues
• Young entrepreneurs
The main goal is to give the group an opportunity to collectively converse and brainstorm on a common issue and come up with a solution together.
The importance of serving others includes:
• Preparing one to receive reciprocal service, ideas, suggestions, and assistance from others
• Removes the mind from personal issues and problems
• Helps members realize that they are all a part of the greater good and that they have something worthwhile to contribute
• Opens the meeting with a sense of camaraderie and common interest
• Aligns the association with a common goal
• Introduces the sense of accomplishment with efforts both large and small and shows how those efforts impact the association and community
To get started,
1. The Host introduces the common challenge or issue to focus on. The Timer then sets the timer for 15 minutes.
2. The group discusses this issue until the time keeper says, “Done!”
